Hi, I’m Jessica Whitehouse, aka, Jess! I’m a writer, mom, wife, animal lover, and wellness enthusiast who believes humor can make even life’s toughest moments a little easier to handle. Through my blog, Life with Jess and Friends, I share honest, funny, and heartfelt stories about health, family, friendship, and the beautiful mess of everyday life. I’ve worn a few professional hats over the years—veterinary technician, nonprofit professional, certified grant writer, marketer, and graphic design instructor—and each one has shaped how I see the world and tell stories that connect.
I enjoy spending time with my family, which includes my high school sweetheart turned husband, Daniel, and our two daughters. I’ve always had a deep love for animals and can often be found doing what my friends call “Jessica things”—being hands-on and saving lives, whether that’s fostering kittens and cats or TNVRing (trap-neuter-vaccinate-release) community cats. In 2016, I co-created the Orlando Cat Café, Florida’s first cat café, introducing a new life-saving adoption concept to the animal welfare industry. I continue to oversee the day-to-day op-purr-ations and love being a small part of the bigger picture in animal welfare.
I’m passionate about living a healthy, balanced life. I don’t drink alcohol, and I find peace and energy through running, regular workouts, and spending time outdoors. I’m also a BRCA2 gene survivor, having recently undergone the first of two preventative surgeries to protect my health and future. That experience deepened my passion for wellness, self-advocacy, and the power of using humor and honesty to navigate life’s biggest challenges.
People often describe me as “sunshine” and “joy.” I love to laugh! And to bring humor to situations that make others laugh is just a wonderful bonus. Whether I’m writing about animals, wellness, relationships, or marketing tips, my goal is to bring a little humor, heart, and honesty to everything I share.
